The Bowen technique (also known as Bowenwork) is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. It is sometimes called the ‘homeopathy of bodywork’. It utilizes small but measured inputs to the body, stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly. The Bowen technique offers tremendous benefit to clients with very little effort on the part of the practitioner.

Bowtech® — the Original Bowen Technique usually results in the relief of many specific injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic. It does so holistically, by using the body’s innate healing mechanisms. The practitioner delivers signals to the nervous system at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves), and the body does the rest, responding in its own time, as it is able. While there are a few, very specific situations in which a particular ‘procedure’ is contra-indicated, the Bowen technique is appropriate to use for individuals of all ages and in all degrees of health.

Bowen therapists use their thumbs and fingers to make subtle rolling movements on the client’s body. Bowen sessions may last from 25 minutes to 1 hour and are often customized to the individual.
The Bowen Technique affects the body primarily through the nervous system in conjunction with all other bodily systems, to bring it into a state of balance.
The Bowen Technique is a cross fibre muscle release technique that balances and stimulates energy flows, resulting in a deep sense of overall relaxation.
